The story
In the shadows of power, truth is the most dangerous weapon

When General Zia seizes power in a ruthless coup, Benazir Bhutto is imprisoned for nearly a decade. Cut off from the world, she secretly reaches out to her old college friend, Peter.
Risking his career and his marriage, Peter takes on Washington’s power players, pressing U.S. senators and leveraging military aid until Zia relents. When Zia’s plane mysteriously crashes, Peter helps Benazir turn years of trauma into strength. At thirty-five she becomes the world’s youngest female Prime Minister.
But the dangers only grow. Peter risks everything in Iraq to create a Kurdish safe haven, while Benazir is engulfed by scandal, ousted, and targeted by extremists. Through triumph and tragedy, their friendship becomes the story of a promise: that a person may die, but an idea lives on.
