During 12 year old Wesley’s ‘FRESH AIR’ summer on a farm with the Graysons, a Mennonite family in Pennsylvania, his single mother is killed back in Brooklyn. They adopt him, and in the fall, take him along on their missionary assignment to Africa. Wesley experiences his first crush, but his family and the tribe hosting them are murdered by guerilla fighters. Fumboto, Wesley’s girlfriend, and all the village girls are taken prisoner, while Wesley escapes into the jungle. With his skill in the art of parkour and his remarkable ability to communicate with animals, Wesley manages to survive. He adopts an abandoned baby elephant and baby chimp who he cares for and who in turn care for him. He meets another boy his own age, Lantoto, the son of a tribal Chief, who brings Wesley home with him. There, he is absorbed into the boy’s tribe like a brother and a son. With the murder of his adopted parents, he is now heir to their farm which is worth a great fortune. The US State Department has instructed the local consulate to locate Wesley. Wesley and Lantoto, with help from the chimp and elephant, sneak into the guerilla camp and rescue the captive village girls. The Chief has summoned the armed PARK RANGERS in anticipation of a counterattack and Wesley, together with the Chief’s warriors, battles the guerilla fighters into submission. The grateful PARK RANGERS connect Wesley and the American consulate and Wesley goes home to his farm in Pennsylvania to use his newfound wealth to help the planet, its animals and indigenous tribes around the world.
